Since the demise of the Snow Shredders of America (SSA) in 1992, Boston Mills - Brandywine Ski Resort near Cleveland Ohio, has held USASA sanctioned competitions each year. For the past few years, I have been the head judge for the freestyle events that are held there. Along with some exceptional snowboarders, I have had the pleasure of working with some exceptional people behind the scenes. The members of the race department, marketing personel like Chuck Ramus and for the last two years, Beth Demeter. Below is a picture of Beth and her Boyfriend Bill Ryai doing the the most tedious part of the competition, score tallies.
The prior season started out with Beth taking over the job of race director from Chuck Ramus. Having this new responsibility thrust upon her, has proved to be a challenge. I feel she has done a superb job of meeting this challenge, as evidenced by this season's competitions. With many uncooperative factors, Beth was able to not only pull off first class events, she also was able to convince the ski area management to allow for a boardercross event. However, as uncooperative things go, the weather was one of the worst, causing the cancellation of the boardercross. But the rest of the events were held, the points were tallied and another season of USASA competitions were successful. Thanks Beth!
